Nob Hill Club at the Mark Hopkins Hotel: Reviews & Ratings

This review is limited to breakfast only! Friendly staff, seated immediately. Kind and helpful for my mobility limitation. The place wasn't busy at all at 7:30am on a Wednesday. Calm and quiet, easy to talk. Nice, solid choices of breakfast selections. Order served quickly within a few minutes. Good, tasty dishes, fresh and cooked to order! No buffet. The common pricing in luxury hotels, not surprising but not exaggerated either. Unfortunately we were a bit in a rush to an appointment, would have loved to spend more time and enjoy. Will come back, definitely recommended! P.S. The Nob Hill Club hosts also the Club Intercontinental that deserves a different rating unfortunately. I believe this is a topic for IC management and shouldn't penalize the Nob Hill Club. Bonus: if you stay on a Club rate or are high status IHG member, the cooked to order breakfast is included.

This is right across from the Fairmont up at the top of California Street at the corner of Mason and California. Anyhow the Cobb salad is delicious as is the margarita pizza. Also my wife enjoyed the great Riesling and I enjoyed a Heineken.

Absolutely loved dining at The Nob Hill Club. The decor is so unique and luxurious without feeling stuffy — it really sets the tone for a relaxing but refined meal. Big windows line the space, and we had the perfect view overlooking California Street, watching the cable cars roll up and down. Such a classic San Francisco moment. We had both breakfast and lunch here, and while both were great, lunch was especially memorable. The grilled octopus with chorizo was flavorful and perfectly cooked, the steak was juicy and tender, and the salad was super fresh and beautifully plated. Everything was well-seasoned and thoughtfully presented. Service was lovely throughout — warm, attentive, and unhurried. It felt like a hidden gem tucked inside a historic hotel, and I’d definitely come back again whether I’m staying at the Mark Hopkins or just in the neighborhood.

My date and I had a wonderful dinner at the Nob Hill Club! It’s a perfect date night spot inside the hotel. When you enter the Mark Hopkins, you can just feel that historic charm to it, and the restaurant inside encompasses just that. It has a classy vibe and the staff was just wonderful! (Shout out to Laura) The food was exquisite. Here’s what we ordered: Starter: Beef Cheek Pontine Salad: Kale Salad Entrees: Maple Leaf Roasted Duck Breast & Grilled Mayan Hanger Steak Dessert: Pistachio Custard Cheesecake Everything was delicious, and it wasn’t very crowded, so the food came out quick! You could even hear Frank Sinatra playing in the background. Will definitely come back!

We had breakfast here one morning during our stay at the InterContinental. Seemed like a popular place for business folks to meet up for a bite before work. Service was prompt and the decor was lovely. I enjoyed an omelete while my husband had a lox bagel. The food, coffee, and atmosphere were great!

This dining sanctuary, nestled at 999 California Street, captures the city’s storied charm through its sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere. The Nob Hill Club is a versatile spot that gracefully caters to both leisurely breakfasts and memorable dinners. Mornings here unfold calmly with fresh, made-to-order dishes served promptly by attentive staff who prioritize comfort and care—especially for guests with special needs. The absence of a buffet emphasizes quality over quantity, presenting solid breakfast selections such as expertly crafted omelets and lox bagels that blend freshness with thoughtful seasoning.

Lunch and dinner elevate the experience with inspired plates that showcase culinary precision. Standout dishes like the grilled octopus paired with spicy chorizo, tender maple leaf roasted duck breast, and perfectly cooked Mayan hanger steak demonstrate a remarkable balance of bold flavors and elegant presentation. Each dish carries a subtle complexity, heightened by fresh, vibrant ingredients and meticulous seasoning that speaks to the kitchen’s dedication. Complementing the food is a well-curated beverage list featuring crisp Rieslings and craft beers, enhancing the overall palate experience.

The décor’s unique yet unpretentious charm invites meaningful conversation without pretension, while soft strains of Frank Sinatra underscore the timeless vibe. Service throughout feels warm and unhurried, adding to the intimate, almost hidden-gem vibe that makes Nob Hill Club an exceptional find whether you’re a hotel guest or a local savoring the view.

Perhaps most striking is how this restaurant balances exclusivity with accessibility. Guests staying at the hotel’s Club level or holding elite IHG status enjoy added perks like a complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast, reinforcing Nob Hill Club’s appeal to discerning travelers and locals alike. Whether it’s a calm weekday morning or an elegant date night, Nob Hill Club stands out as a destination worth returning to for its harmonious mix of ambiance, attentive service, and thoughtfully crafted cuisine rooted in San Francisco’s vibrant heritage.
